Illinois permit practice test 1

Twenty-five questions on the basics every new Illinois driver needs: STOP, YIELD and school signs, the round railroad sign, the town speed limit, flashing red lights, seat belts, the permit age and supervisor, .08 BAC, emergency vehicles, school buses, hand signals, hill parking, hydrants, phones, crash reports, skids and passing bicyclists. Every answer comes from the Illinois Rules of the Road 2026. The Illinois Rules of the Road does not publish how many questions the real written exam has or the score needed to pass, so this set uses our own practice rule: 25 questions, 20 correct (80 percent) to pass. Signs are part of the same written exam, so sign questions are mixed in. No time limit is published; our sets have none.

Exam mode: timed, answers at the end, like the real test. Practice mode: untimed, the answer and explanation after each question.
