Kentucky permit practice test 3

Forty questions that go a step further: adult permit waiting periods, permit renewal, the point system, vehicle registration and insurance minimums, child seats, lane use, passing distances, stopping distance, railroad crossings, large trucks and move-over rules, with ten sign questions shown as pictures. Every answer comes from the Kentucky Driver Manual. The real written test covers driving rules, regulations, procedures and highway signs, and you need a score of at least 80 percent to pass. Kentucky does not publish how many questions it has, so 40 questions is our own practice size, and you need 32 correct (80 percent) to pass. There is no time limit.

A sample question

Another vehicle is about to pass you on the left. What does Kentucky law require of you?

  • Speed up so the other driver can finish the pass in a shorter time
  • Move left toward the center line to make the pass more difficult
  • Brake hard so that the passing vehicle can cut back in right away
  • Stay in your lane and give way to the right for the passing driver

Marked when you take the test; the explanation appears in your review.
