NCLEX-RN mixed practice set 1
Sixty stand-alone items spread across the eight client-needs categories of the NCSBN NCLEX-RN Test Plan (effective April 2026) in roughly the proportions the plan sets: Management of Care 11, Safety and Infection Prevention and Control 8, Health Promotion and Maintenance 5, Psychosocial Integrity 6, Basic Care and Comfort 5, Pharmacological and Parenteral Therapies 10, Reduction of Risk Potential 7 and Physiological Adaptation 8. The items come in the formats you will meet on the exam: single-answer multiple choice, select all that apply, ordered response, dosage calculation with a number box, matrix grids, drop-down sentences, highlight items and bow-ties. Scoring follows the NCSBN partial-credit rules: where the number of answers is not stated (select-all items, highlight items and matrix rows that may have more than one answer) each correct choice earns a point and each wrong one loses a point, never below zero; where it is stated (drop-down blanks, single-answer matrix rows and bow-tie columns) each correct choice earns a point with no deduction; the one drop-down item that pairs a finding with its reason scores only when both parts are right; single-answer, ordered and calculation items are right or wrong. Every option has a reason, so read the explanations for the answers you got right as well as the ones you missed. Calculation items say how to round. Lab reference ranges are stated in each item because they differ between laboratories; use the ones given. No time limit and no pass mark: the results screen shows your percentage overall and by client-needs category. Format checked against the NCSBN test plan on 1 November 2026. All clients and scenarios are invented.
The real NCLEX-RN is computer-adaptive: 85 to 150 items in up to five hours, and it stops when it is 95% certain you are above or below the passing standard. This is fixed-length practice of the same item types, so it gives a percentage and a client-needs breakdown, not a pass or fail.
Exam mode: timed, answers at the end, like the real test. Practice mode: untimed, the answer and explanation after each question.
