UK driving theory practice test 4
Fifty multiple-choice questions in the real car theory test format: 57 minutes, 43 correct answers to pass. The hardest of the first four sets, with finer points of the rules: the contactless payment exception, unmarked junctions, staying in your car after a motorway breakdown, rejoining from an emergency area, red routes, pavement parking and totting-up penalty points. Every answer comes from The Highway Code, and each question has four options with one correct answer. In the real test three of the fifty questions follow a short silent video clip; we cannot show video, so every question here is written. Hazard perception, the separate second part of the real theory test (14 video clips, 44 out of 75 to pass), is not offered on this site.
Exam mode: timed, answers at the end, like the real test. Practice mode: untimed, the answer and explanation after each question.

A sample question
On a roundabout, a lorry towing a trailer is straddling two lanes. Why might it be doing this?
- The driver is lost and looking for the exit
- Its length may force it to take a different line
- It is about to break down
- Lorries must always use both lanes on roundabouts
Marked when you take the test; the explanation appears in your review.
