UK driving theory practice test 7
Fifty multiple-choice questions in the real car theory test format: 57 minutes, 43 correct answers to pass. This set moves into the middle of the difficulty range, with thinking and braking distances, window tints and diesel spills, parallel crossings, trams with their own signals, lanes that lead straight off a motorway, user-operated level crossing gates and the penalty for using a hand-held phone. Every answer comes from The Highway Code, and each question has four options with one correct answer. In the real test three of the fifty questions are about a short, silent video clip; video is not offered here, so every question in this set is written. Hazard perception, the separate second part of the real theory test, is not offered on this site.
Exam mode: timed, answers at the end, like the real test. Practice mode: untimed, the answer and explanation after each question.

A sample question
You are waiting at a junction on a red light and see a tram move off beside you. Why might this happen?
- The tram driver is breaking the law by moving off
- Trams often have their own signals and may move when you cannot
- Your own lights must have changed to green at exactly the same time
- Trams are allowed to ignore all red lights at junctions
Marked when you take the test; the explanation appears in your review.
