CELPIP-General Listening practice test 1

A complete CELPIP-General Listening practice test in the real format: six parts and 38 multiple-choice questions, with everyday and workplace situations set in Canada. Part 1, Listening to Problem Solving, is a conversation in three sections about a leak in an apartment, with questions after each section (8 questions). Part 2, Listening to a Daily Life Conversation, is two friends talking about buying a car (5 questions). Part 3, Listening for Information, is a call to a city service line about green bin collection (6 questions). Part 4, Listening to a News Item, is a local news report about a town's transit service (5 questions). Part 5, Listening to a Discussion, is two coworkers planning a volunteer day (8 questions). Part 6, Listening to Viewpoints, is a report on two sides of a local debate about closing a downtown street to cars (6 questions). Every question has four answer choices, which you read on screen, as in the real test. Play each recording once only. The real Listening test takes 46 to 55 minutes, so we give you 55 minutes. The real test also contains unscored questions that look the same as scored ones. Our recordings use North American voices. Scoring: CELPIP reports a level from 0 to 12 for each skill, and levels 3 to 12 match the same Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level, while level 2 matches CLB 1 to 2. CELPIP does not publish how many correct answers give each level, so this test has no pass mark: your number correct out of 38 is a guide to your listening, not a CELPIP level. Format checked against celpip.ca on 1 November 2026.
