CELPIP-General Reading practice test 9

This CELPIP-General Reading practice test has the real four-part, 38-question structure, with somewhat longer texts and more questions that ask you to infer, calculate or compare than in our earlier Reading tests. Part 1, Reading Correspondence (questions 1 to 11), is a customer's email to an internet provider about her bill and the company's reply: questions 1 to 6 are about her email, and questions 7 to 11 complete the reply. Part 2, Reading to Apply a Diagram (questions 12 to 19), is a self-storage price list and an email about storing a parent's furniture; since this site cannot display the picture used in the real test, the diagram appears as a text table. Part 3, Reading for Information (questions 20 to 28), is an article in four paragraphs, A to D, on preparing a household for a long power outage, and each question asks which paragraph contains a piece of information. Part 4, Reading for Viewpoints (questions 29 to 38), is a newspaper article about a city's four-day work week trial, with a reader's comment to complete in questions 34 to 38. Every question has four options and only one correct answer. CELPIP's time allotment for Reading is 43 to 56 minutes, and you have 55 minutes here, so you can work at a realistic test pace. The real test can also contain unscored trial questions that look no different from the scored ones. CELPIP reports each skill as a level from 0 to 12, and levels 3 to 12 are the same as the matching Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level. Because CELPIP does not publish the number of correct answers needed for each level, this test has no pass mark: read your total as a sign of progress, not as a CELPIP level.
