Minnesota permit practice test 1
Thirty questions on the basics every new Minnesota driver needs: the permit age and who can supervise you, traffic lights and all-way stops, the town speed limit, turn signals, school buses, emergency vehicles and the Move Over Law, seat belts and children in the back seat, following distance, headlights, pedestrians, bicyclists and railroad crossings, parking near hydrants, center lines and lane lines, phone use, what to do after a crash, the alcohol limits, and six common road signs. Every answer comes from the Minnesota Driver's Manual (June 2026). The real Class D written test mixes multiple-choice and true-or-false questions on traffic laws and road signs, and you need 80 percent to pass. DVS does not publish how many questions it has, so 30 is our own practice size, and you need 24 of 30 (80 percent) to pass. Our practice tests are untimed.
Exam mode: timed, answers at the end, like the real test. Practice mode: untimed, the answer and explanation after each question.
