North Carolina permit practice test 1

Thirty questions on the basics every new North Carolina driver needs: STOP and YIELD signs, traffic lights, town and interstate speed limits, seat belts, school buses, emergency vehicles, the teen permit age, the under-21 alcohol rule and what to do after a crash. Answers are based on the North Carolina Driver Handbook; a few sign meanings follow the national sign manual (MUTCD). NCDMV gives two written tests: a knowledge test, which you pass by answering 80 percent of the questions correctly (NCDMV does not publish how many questions it has), and a separate traffic signs test, where you must identify 9 of 12 signs. Our set has 18 knowledge questions and 12 sign questions with pictures, and you need 24 of 30 (80 percent) to pass. Our engine scores the overall mark only, so check your sign answers too: on the real signs test you need 9 of 12. Our sets have no time limit.
