South Carolina permit practice test 1

Twenty questions on the basics every new South Carolina driver needs: traffic lights and right turn on red, STOP and YIELD signs, the four-second following distance, beginner's permit age and supervision, the under-21 alcohol law, the primary seat belt law, emergency vehicles, roundabouts, parking distance from the curb, hydroplaning, pedestrians with white canes and low beams in fog. Every answer comes from the South Carolina Driver's License Manual or the SCDMV's own pages, and road sign questions are mixed in, as on the real test. The SCDMV does not publish how many questions its knowledge test has or the score needed to pass, so 20 questions is our own practice size and we count 16 correct (80 percent) as a pass. There is no time limit.
