Minnesota permit practice test 5

Thirty medium to hard questions: crossing divided highways, large vehicles in roundabouts, right-lane rules and passing on the right, backing out, airbags, vehicle fires, SIPDE, school bus flaggers, fleeing police, vehicles stopped for pedestrians, motorcycle lane filtering, bicyclists at stop signs, passing trucks, the railroad ENS sign, lane-ending markings and carpool lanes, freeway entry and breakdowns, ABS, steering failure, flood water, implied consent, limited licenses and six road signs, including the railroad EXEMPT plaque and steep hills. Every answer comes from the Minnesota Driver's Manual (June 2026). The real Class D written test mixes multiple-choice and true-or-false questions on traffic laws and road signs, and you need 80 percent to pass. DVS does not publish how many questions it has, so 30 is our own practice size, and you need 24 of 30 (80 percent) to pass. Our practice tests are untimed.

A sample question

A bicyclist comes to a stop sign, and no vehicle is anywhere nearby. What does Minnesota law allow the bicyclist to do?

  • Ride through at full speed, because bicycles are exempt from stop signs
  • Slow to a speed that allows stopping, then turn or go on without a full stop
  • Stop completely with a foot on the ground, exactly as every other vehicle must
  • Get off and walk the bicycle through the intersection

Marked when you take the test; the explanation appears in your review.
